1. Find the item. Browse listings at getjapan.auction, or send us a Yahoo Auctions link using the form below.
2. Work out your max bid. Listings show the current bid, which moves. The Set Your Max Bid calculator on each listing gives an all-in figure to Pomona with every cost included.
3. Review service terms and timeline. Email hello@get-jpn.com if anything is unclear.
4. Authorize the bid, or confirm the purchase. On an auction you authorize us to bid up to your max and commit to the final winning price if we win. On a fixed-price item you commit to buy at the all-in price shown. Lower-value items need no deposit. Higher-value items and vehicles do, see Deposits and Payment below.
5. Auctions: we place your bid. We only bid enough to stay one increment ahead of the next highest bidder, so you often win below your max and are invoiced for what it actually sold for. If we do not win, you owe nothing. A bid cannot be retracted once placed.
6. Buy It Now: we send an invoice. Fixed-price items are purchased as soon as you submit, and the invoice follows within 24 hours.
7. We coordinate the import. Seller to our Osaka warehouse, ocean freight to California, then pickup in Pomona or domestic shipping if requested. You receive email updates at each stage.

A quote is all-in for pickup in Pomona, CA. It is built from these components:

Item price. The winning bid or Buy It Now price, converted from JPY at the rate applicable when we purchase.

Commission (parts and accessories). Covers export company commission, import taxes and tariffs, customs paperwork, storage and handling. Charged on the winning bid or Buy It Now price:

• Under ¥250,000: 33%
• ¥250,000 to ¥299,999: 28%
• ¥300,000 and above: 25%

Service fee (vehicles). A flat fee by winning bid band rather than a percentage. Covers export company commission, Japanese and U.S. customs paperwork, storage, transload, and handling. U.S. import duty is not included and is passed through separately.

• Under ¥1,000,000: ¥250,000
• ¥1,000,000 to ¥2,999,999: ¥300,000
• ¥3,000,000 to ¥5,999,999: ¥400,000
• ¥6,000,000 to ¥9,999,999: ¥500,000
• ¥10,000,000 and above: quoted individually

U.S. import duty (vehicles only). 2.5% of the item price, passed through at cost with nothing added. Vans, pickups, and trucks built to carry goods are dutied at 25% instead of this rate, never on top of it. We tell you before you commit when a vehicle is subject to it.

Domestic shipping in Japan. From the seller to our Osaka warehouse. Varies by item size and seller location. Disclosed before you confirm.- Ocean freight. Japan to California, at the published rates in the Pricing Guide below.

Optional, and the one thing not included in a quote. Quoted separately if you do not want to collect in Pomona.

• Under $2,500: no deposit. Full payment due within 48 hours of the win or purchase.
• $2,500 to $10,000: 20% deposit to place your bid. Balance due within 48 hours of the win.
• Over $10,000: 25% deposit to place your bid. Balance due within 48 hours of the win.
• Vehicles: 20% of your max bid as deposit. Then two charges, see Vehicles below.

Your deposit is refundable in exactly two situations: we do not win the auction on your behalf, or the Japanese seller cancels the sale after we win. In every other situation the deposit is non-refundable. We have placed a real bid on your instruction, and Japanese auction sites hold us financially responsible for what we bid.

We accept Zelle, wire transfer, and Shopify checkout. Deposits and balances can use different methods if that is more convenient.

• Vehicles must be 25 years or older, which is the federal rule for imported vehicles.
• We handle the whole process: bidding with our accounts, dealing with the seller, arranging domestic transport, and managing the Japanese export and U.S. import paperwork. You receive everything needed to title and register it.
• A deposit of 20% of the maximum bid you authorize is due before we bid. It is credited against the first charge below.
• Charge one, due when we win the auction and secure the vehicle: the vehicle price and domestic delivery to our Osaka warehouse, less the deposit you have already paid.
• Charge two, due when we book the international shipment: the service fee, U.S. import duty at 2.5% of the item price (or 25% on goods-carrying vehicles), and ocean freight to California.
• The two charges usually fall four to eight weeks apart, because a vehicle sits in Osaka until a container is booked. The price you are quoted is the total of both, and it is the whole cost to Pomona.
• Vehicles are sold as-is, with all faults, and without any warranty of any kind. We are not a licensed motor vehicle dealer and do not act as your agent for registration, titling, insurance, or emissions purposes. It is your responsibility to confirm, before you purchase, that a vehicle can be legally imported, titled, registered, and operated in your state.

• We notify you once your item reaches our Pomona shop. Pickup is free.
• U.S. domestic shipping is available at your cost, quoted separately based on destination and item size. Domestic shipments go out within one to two weeks after the container is unloaded.
• Items must be collected or shipped within 30 days of arrival. After that a small storage fee applies to cover the warehouse space.

We ship by consolidated container, which is what keeps freight affordable, but it means we cannot give you a firm arrival date. A container leaves when it is full. Estimated arrival dates are approximate and are not guaranteed. You will receive updates by email as your item moves through purchase, consolidation in Osaka, sailing, and arrival.

• Small parts by air freight: 2 to 4 weeks from the win to Pomona.
• Larger parts by ocean freight: 8 to 12 weeks.
• Vehicles: 10 to 16 weeks.

If you need something by a specific date, this service is not the right fit. We would rather tell you that up front than miss your deadline.

• Submitting a bid authorization or purchase confirmation is a commitment, not an inquiry. Once a bid is placed or a purchase is finalized, it cannot be canceled.
• All costs are due after the auction is won or the purchase is finalized. Invoices must be paid in full within 72 hours. If payment is not received within this window, we may cancel the order, and you may be responsible for any resulting fees or losses, including auction fees, seller cancellation charges, or shipping cancellation charges.
• GET Japan LLC is not responsible for sellers delivering items that are not as described. While receiving items not as described is uncommon, it can occur. Please ask us for clarification if you are unsure about an item's condition, description accuracy, or provided images before you commit.
• Most performance parts are off-road use only. Unless a listing says otherwise, aftermarket parts we source are intended for competition and off-road use, may not be CARB-certified, and may not be legal on a street-registered vehicle in your state. Confirm legality before you buy.
• Estimated and approximate arrival dates are not guaranteed. All customers will receive updates by email.
• If you require parts or vehicles urgently, or by a specific deadline near the estimated arrival time, this service is not suitable for you.
• Our import process includes publicly sharing photos and videos of shipments, vehicles, parts, and loading and unloading activities. If confidentiality for your parts or vehicle is required, please do not use our service.
• GET Japan LLC is not financially liable for parts or vehicles that were not purchased directly through our Import Service.
• We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone.
